In the 1960's he earned a BA in Art and Speech from the University of Nebraska and Later a Master's degree in Educational Administration from the University of South Dakota.
Since then he has worked in many creative environments with traditional and contemporary two and three-dimensional Native Artists. His past work, in a variety of mediums, includes sculpture in wood, bronze, stone, clay, and sterling silver jewelry. The silver jewelry are his visions of Lakota Indian Jewelry.
The culture and history of the Lakota have fascinated Robert since he was a young boy. Much of his youth was spent with his grandparents who farmed and ranched on the Rosebud Reservation. The faces of the Lakota elders he has known through his life are the major influences in his recent work in Jewelry. Robert is presently building and experimental straw, grass and earth studio in the Badlands of South Dakota. This studio will house his recent works in primitive and raku fiered clays and silver jewelry with much more to come. We hope you will enjoy Roberts Silver Jewelry Visions.
